Prayer at the Center of the Mission

Prayer is not a side activity of City for the Nations—it is the foundation of everything we do. The work of seeing the Great Commission fully accomplished cannot be sustained by strategy, resources, or human effort alone. It requires daily dependence on God.

Prayer aligns us with God’s heart and direction as we pursue multiplying movements of prayer, evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. We pray because spiritual darkness is not overcome by human strength. In prayer, we contend for open doors among unreached peoples, ask God to raise up ordinary disciples for extraordinary obedience, and intercede for those serving in difficult and unseen places.

Every stage of the mission is covered in prayer—from connecting with leaders, to unifying the Church, to equipping and deploying workers, and trusting God for multiplication where the gospel has not yet taken root. Prayer sustains the work long after teams are sent and plans are made.

Prayer is also an invitation to participate. A praying Church is essential to the completion of the Great Commission.
